View the Budget BOM

Tips:

If you are an administrative user, you can view the project's bills of material (BOMs) with WBS/control account assignments. Select Home > BOM in the Navigation Menu to display the BOM tab. Select your project from the Project dropdown in the Ribbon Menu to display the list of BOMs.

Only administrative users can make changes to the project's BOMs. This includes adding or deleting parts or assemblies as well as updating a manufacturer, quantity, or unit price in the BOMs.

Prerequisites

  • When you are sharing data with BOEMax, you have imported the BOEMax project to create your EVMax project. The import process includes the project's BOMs and WBS/control account assignments.
  • When you are not sharing data with BOEMax, you have created the project's BOMs, created the applicable Material assumption type work packages with the Quantities earned value technique, assigned a material resource, and selected the applicable BOM line items to determine the budget base value. Once a part or assembly is selected from a BOM for a material work package, the Assignment column in the BOM displays the applicable work breakdown structure (WBS)/control account so it is easy to identify the work packages with material resource assignments.

The following steps assume you are using the Standard View Ribbon Menu option to view the detail BOM data. The BOM data includes the manufacturer, quantity, unit of measure, unit price, part total, and total. Remember you can only modify the quantity or unit price in the applicable project BOM, not in the Resource BOM window.

  1. Select Home > Earned Value in the Navigation Menu. The main EVMax window displays.
  2. Select your project from the Project dropdown in the Ribbon Menu.
  3. Expand the WBS hierarchy as needed to view the work packages.
  4. Select the material work package row in the top pane.

  5. Select the Resources tab in the bottom pane. This enables the BOM option in the Ribbon Menu. The left pane displays the Budget, Earned, Actuals, and Forecast tabs.

    Tip:

    If the BOM option in the Ribbon Menu isn't enabled for the work package row you selected, verify the work package assumption type is set to "Material" (Work Package tab, Add/Edit tab). If it is set to something else, the BOM option isn't available for that work package.

  6. Select the Budget tab. A list of the resources assigned to the work package displays in the left pane.
  7. Select the applicable material resource row and then select the Spreads tab in the right pane of the Budget tab.
  8. Click BOM in the Ribbon Menu. The Resource BOM window displays a list of the project's BOMs parts and assemblies. Look for BOM line items with a check in the check box. A check means the part or assembly is assigned to the work package and is the basis for the budget data.
  9. Optional. Click Expand in the Ribbon Menu to view any assembly details.

  10. Click Cancel to return to the EVMax window without making any changes.

    Tip:

    Should you need to modify the parts or assemblies that determine the material work package budget base value, check or uncheck the part or assembly line items in the Resource BOM window. Click Save in the Resource BOM window. The applicable project BOMs are updated to reflect the assignment changes.
